Malaysia is one of the mostly visited tourist hubs in South East Asia. The country has a glorious tradition of cultural melting pot where people from across the world are still migrating for a better life. The moderate weather of Malaysia has made it quite easily adaptable for the migrants.

Anyone from Dhaka can easily afford it in Malaysia spending the same amount for his/her living. Malaysia has, at the moment, approximately 1 million Bangladeshi perusing jobs in various professions such as students, teachers, doctors, engineers, and labourers to name a few.

In the making of modern Malaysia includes an enormous hardship from Bangladeshis. No other country can claim the same. The Malaysian people and its government also recognise the contribution of Bangladeshis for their country. Bangladeshis have gained the love and confidence from Malaysians with their skill, hard labour and honesty. These are the causes making Malaysian girls more attracted to Bangladeshi young men to choose them as suitable life partner.

The Malaysian wives of the Bangladeshis have formed an organisation. They are active too. Besides maintaining a good communication among them, these women stand beside their peers in bad times. At the same time, they are featuring the honesty and working skills of Bangladeshis among the fellow country people.

‘KELAB isteri’ or KIB — means ‘cute wife’ in English — is one of such organisations. The organisation was formed in 2014. Recently, KIB arranged a friendly get together. The organisers at the event expressed their views on Bangladesh and revealed the aim of KIB.

One of them said, ‘Some of my countrymen try to demean Bangladeshis. They think, Bangladesh is a poor country and people of Bangladesh come into Malaysia only for odd jobs. Bangladeshis too have some misconception about Malaysian girls. When visited the rural areas in Bangladesh, we found the local people deem Malaysia a bad country. They blame Malaysian girls for enchanting their boys.’

‘We formed this organisation to dissolve all the misconceptions about our husbands. Our aim is to positively present our husbands before my country people,’ she added.

Sasha said Bangladeshis are good people. They like to work hard. They are honest and caring. Malaysia and Bangladesh are Muslim majority countries. People of Bangladesh are believers in religion, and they are incredible as hosts.

Susi and Liza too are married to Bangladeshi men. They are also members of ‘cute wife’. They are happy with their conjugal life. Bangladeshi men admire their wives. They (husbands) pick considerable time to call their wives while at work.

The Malaysian wives are active in protesting torture on Bangladeshi labourers. They have an active Facebook page where they post about Bangladeshi dresses, foods, news, and the national anthem of Bangladesh.

KIB — which now has about 200 members — will arrange an event on 5 December 2015 at Ampang hall room in Kuala Lumpur. The Bangladeshi envoy in Malaysia Shahidul Islam is scheduled to attend the programme.

Any Bangladeshi couple living in Malaysia can join the KIB Facebook page — K.I.M.B.A (KELAB isteri-isteri Malaysia+Bangladesh.
