2 municipality councillors held in Bogra
Bogra: Detectives arrested two newly elected BNP-backed councillors of Bogra municipality on sabotage charges on Friday, immediately after they took oath.
The arrestees are Tawhidul Alam Bitu, a councillor from ward No 2 and a member of district BNP, and Delwar Hossain Poshari Hiru, a councillor from ward-7 and general secretary of the district Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasass), reports UNB.
A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested them while they were leaving the Pouro Shaheed Titu Auditorium at about 12:00pm after taking oath.
Later, they were taken to the DB office, said Amirul Islam, officer-in-charge of DB police.
They were accused in sabotage cases, added the OC.
