UPDF man shot dead in Rangamati

Rangamati: An activist of theUnited People's Democratic Front (UPDF), the Chittagong Hill Tracts-based political party, was shot to death reportedly by members of a breakaway rival faction in Betchari area in Naniarchar Upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased is Jony Tangchanga, 42, hailing from Rajasthali in the district.

Witnesses said a group of armed people fired on Jony in the afternoon while he was taking tea at a tea stall at the place and fled the scene immediately.

Jony died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge of Naniarchar Police Station confirmed the death incident.
