Rangpur: Twelve years after marriage, Arjina, a resident of Kishamat Sherpur village of Sadulyapur upazila in Gaibandha, has given birth to five children at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Arjina’s family said she was admitted to RMCH with labour pain on Tuesday afternoon.

A team of gynaecologists led by Assistant Professor Dr Sirajum Munira Daisy performed the surgery on Arjina at about 9:30pm and delivered three sons and two daughters at about 11:00pm.

RMC assistant registrar Dr. Azmir Ahmed said both the mother and the babies are stable. The children are now kept at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the hospital.

Sheregul Islam, Arjina’s husband, is a garment factory worker in Dhaka.
