Govt official held while taking bribe at restaurant
Dhaka: Bangladesh Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday night arrested a deputy secretary red‐handed while he was taking bribe at a fast food restaurant in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area.
The arrestee is Mizanur Rahman, deputy secretary of the Roads and Highways Department.
Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjo, deputy director (Public Relations) of the ACC, said that a team of the corruption watchdog led by director Nasim Anwar conducted a drive at the restaurant at about 9:00pm over a complained by a lease holder Mainuddin Chowdhury and arrested Mizanur while he was taking Tk 50,000 as bribe.
Mainuddin also alleged that he gave Tk 1.09 lakh to Mizanur, though the latter demanded Tk nine lakh more as bribe.
