BD receives US $ 6932.4 million remittance from July to Dec in current fiscal

Sangsad Bhaban: Bangladesh received at least US$ 6932.4 million as remittance from 30 foreign countries during the last six months since July to December 2017 in the current fiscal year.

‘The remittance which was received by the country for the last six months during the current fiscal year was 12.4 per cent more compared the corresponding period of the last fiscal year,’ said Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith while responding to a query tabled by treasury bench member Selim Uddin of Sylhet-5 in the House, reports the BSS.

The highest remittance was received from Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) which was respectively US$ 1201.4 million and 1138.2 million, said the minister.

The other remittance sending countries were USA, Kuwait, Malaysia, UK, Oman, Quatar, Italy, Bahrain, Singapore, France, South Africa, Lebanon, Jordan, South Korea, Iraq, Canada, Australia, Mauritius, Spain, Greece, Germany, Japan, Maldives, Hong Kong, Brunei, Sweden, Cyprus and Denmark.
