NBR to observe Nat’l VAT Day Friday

Dhaka: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will observe the National VAT Day on Friday and the VAT Week from 10-16 July for the 5th consecutive year.
The main theme of this year’s National VAT Day and VAT Week is ‘Pay the VAT timely to participate in the development of the country’.
State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan will launch the Friday's programme from a colourful rally to be brought out from the NBR Bhaban at 9:00 am which will end in front of the National Press Club in the capital.
Like the previous years, the programme of the VAT Day and the VAT Week will also include a discussion to create more awareness among people and businesses about the VAT.
Finance minister AMA Muhith will be the chief guest at the discussion to be held on Sunday at 10:30 am at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital.
Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed, Economic Affairs adviser to the Prime Minister Moshiur Rahman, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance Ministry Md. Abdur Razzaque, NBR chairman Mohammad Nojibur Rahman and FBCCI president Abdul Matlub Ahmed, will participate in the discussion.
A member of VAT implementation and IT will present a keynote paper on implementation of the VAT Law and Supplementary Duty Act 2012.
At the programme, the revenue authorities will also award the top VATpaying companies for their outstanding contributions to the national exchequer.
