Bangladesh’s growth outpacing neighbours: BB governor
Dhaka: Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman on Thursday noted the Bangladesh economy has been outperforming neighbouring economies regarding GDP growth.
‘This has happened due to the efficient and all-round performance by the Bangladesh Bank officials,’ he said while addressing the concluding session of the foundation training course at the Bank Bank Training Academy (BBTA) at Mirpur in the city.
The function was also addressed by BBTA principal KM Jamsheduzzaman and Bangladesh Bank deputy governor SK Sur Chowdhury.
The governor said Bangladesh Bank has been working to achieve a goal to become a middle income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041.
‘For achieving this goal, the country’s banking sector had to adopt a huge change,’ he said.
He also mentioned that there are many projects undertaken by the central bank to establish the banking sector as a modern and digital one.
He said Bangladesh Bank officials have to play a vital role in achieving the goal to become a middle income country by 2021.
