‘We are not dependent on Shakib’

Dhaka: Undoubtedly, Shakib is one of the best performers in Bangladesh cricket team. It becomes easier for Bangladesh to achieve victory when the world top all-rounder performs well. Even after that the team is not dependent on Shakib, thinks Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar.
Shakib was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 26 runs in the first T20 against South Africa. Can it be said that Tigers did not win as Shakib could not stretch his innings?
Soumya Sarkar does not think like this. In a press conference at the Sonargaon Hotel in capital on Monday, Soumya said ‘it is true that the team gets an advantage when Shakib plays well, but we are not totally dependent on him. Actually the team did not play well that day, so we lost the match. Probably, we could have won the match if he could stretch his innings.’
Regarding the presence of number one all- rounder in the team, the emerging star batsman said ‘In the team, Shakib is one of the experienced players in T20. He has the experience of playing in different countries across the world. He shares his experience with us and it greatly benefits us.’
‘Personally I talk with Shakib about many issues. His guidance greatly benefits me.’ added Soumya.
