Olympics: Ledecky smashes world record to win 400m freestyle gold

Rio de Janeiro: Katie Ledecky of the United States set a new world record on Sunday as she powered to the Olympic gold medal in the women’s 400m freestyle.
The American prodigy surged home to touch the wall in 3min 56.46sec, smashing her own world record of 3:58.37 set in the Gold Coast, Queensland in 2014.
Jazz Carlin of Great Britain won silver while Leah Smith of the United States took bronze.
