Nonstop Bangladesh: Digital World 2016 begins Wednesday

Dhaka: As the country is set to see the biggest-ever show on ICT, DNCC Mayor Annisul Huq has invited all to visit the Digital World to see in person where Bangladesh’s ICT sector now stands and acquire knowledge on the latest innovations. 

“Bangladesh is unstoppable. It’s moving fast in various areas, especially in the ICT sector, Bangladesh is moving at the fastest pace,” Huq said in a video message ahead of the mega ICT event - Digital World 2016.

The three-day event begins at the International Convention City, Bashundhara on Wednesday with the theme #Nonstop Bangladesh. 

Mentioning that all, including youngsters, middle-aged and aged people, are moving fast, the mayor invited all to join and said, “Come and enjoy, and learn about ICT development. Let’s see where Bangladesh stands now in the ICT sector.”

In another video message, State Minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said Digital Bangladesh is moving fast under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the guidance of PM’s ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

He said the country’s largest ICT event - Digital World --is open to all. 

The World Bank in a feature story titled ‘Bangladesh's ICT Industry: A Boon for Women’s Employment’ mentioned that ICT can play a catalytic role in promoting the country’s economic development.

To make the event more attractive and help the visitors to surf their interested categories the whole event is divided into five zones, including software showcasing, mobile innovation, gaming expo, e-governance expo and e-commerce expo.

The organizers are expecting over 500,000+ visitors.

The Digital World 2016 will showcase the achievements of Bangladesh in ICT and project the tangible achievements in terms of software products and IT enabled services) of Bangladesh in ICT sector in the last seven years.

The event will help the country’s people, investors and donor countries and agencies know where Bangladesh now stands in the ICT progress.

There will be seminars alongside ICT exhibitions at the event to be organised by the ICT Division in collaboration with Bangladesh Computer Council, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Access to Information (a2i) programme.

Alongside the private organisations, government agencies, including ministries, divisions and departments, will participate in the event. 

Over 100 ICT experts and investors, including 50 foreigners, will also join the seminars.
