Tamim joins 1000 runs club in BPL

Dhaka: Prolific batsman Tamil Iqbal added another feather to his illustrious career as he reached the coveted landmark to become the third local player to score 1000 runs in franchise based tournament Bangladesh Premier League T20.
Earlier, it was national skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Khulna Titans skipper Mahmudullah had the distinction of scoring 1000 runs in BPL.
On Tuesday in the elimination round, Tamim was instrumental in putting important runs for Vikings, enabling his side to post a challenging total of 142 for 8 in 20 overs. He was the top scorer for his team with an impressive knock of 51 runs against Rajshahi Kings.
Tamim accumulated his record 1000 runs in the fourth edition of the tournament and also remained the leading Chittagong Vikings batsman of this season's BPL. The Vikings captain came to the pitch with 975 runs and needed 25 runs to enter the 1000 club.
He have now accumulated 1026 runs with 12 half centuries from 36 matches including 104 fours and 30 sixes. It was also his sixth half century for the southpaw opener in this season's BPL.
Earlier, Mushfiqur Rahim was the first Bangladeshi batsman to join the 1000 runs club while Khulna Titans captain Mahmudulah also touched the milestone as the second Bangladeshi batsman in this season of BPL.
