No termination except for political link found: IBBL Chairman

Dhaka: Newly appointed chairman of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) Arastoo Khan on Thursday said nobody will lose his or her job from the bank unless he or she is found directly linked with any political party.
He, however, warned that if any staff is found to have used the bank's money for political purpose, then actions will be taken against him or her.
He made the remarks following his meeting with Finance Minister AMA Muhith at his Finance Ministry office at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Pointing to the latest changeover in the country's pioneer and largest Islamic bank, the former bureaucrat said everything was done in a normal process.
Arastoo Khan, a former additional secretary, was appointed the IBBL chairman on January 5 in the bank's board meeting at a city hotel where its previous chairman and previous managing director and CEO stepped down.
Later, there have been more reshuffles in some other top positions in the bank.
The new IBBL chairman said he would assure all the employees of the bank that the new management would not sack anybody without any valid reason. So far, there has been no political intervention in the bank.
"The bank is doing a good business, and officials are efficiently performing their duties. But, if anyone is found involved in any subversive acts, we won’t allow that," he told reporters.
He said it matters little if anybody prefers to vote for Awami League or BNP. But its reflection should not come to the profession. "Everybody has to be professional and work in a professional way."
