Bangladesh lose to India

Dhaka: Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team conceded a massive nine-wicket defeat against India in their 2nd match of the six-team Super League of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers at Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC), Colombo, Sri Lanka on Friday.
With this win, India stormed the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 with one match to spare while Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka in their 3rd and last must-win Super League match at the same venue on Sunday to stay in the race of last four as well as to qualify for the eight-team world event beginning on June 26 in England.
Bangladesh started the Super League with a seven-wicket victory against Ireland Women while India a 49-run against South Africa.
In the day’s match, sent in to bat first Bangladesh scored 155 for 8 in 50 overs, including Fargana Hoque’s half century of 50 off 107 balls that witnessed five boundaries.
Sharmin Akhter scored 35 runs while Nigar Sultana (18), Salma Khatun(14), skipper Rumana Ahmed (11) and Shaila Sharmin (10 not out) were the other double figure scorers for the side.
Mansi Joshi captured three wickets for 25 runs while Devika Vaidya took two for 17 runs. Shikha Pandey and Rajeshwari Gayakwad took one wicket each for 26 and 34 runs for the winners.
India chased down the target scoring 158 for 1 in 33.3 overs riding on the 2nd pair unbeaten stand of 136 in 25 overs between opener Mona Meshram and skipper Mithali Raj.
MR Meshram scored 78 off 92 balls, including 12 boundaries, while M Raj stayed for 73 off 87 balls, firing 10 boundaries and one over boundary.
Khadija Tul Kubra caught and bowled the only wicket Deepti Sharma at 22/1 in 8.3 overs before the 2nd pair started to play till the end.
Khadija conceded 37 runs in 8.3 overs.
