Nasir in Tri‐Nation Series, out from Champions Trophy

Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday announced the Tigers squads for Champions Trophy and Ireland Tri‐Nation Series recalling pace bowler Shafiul Islam in both the squads.
Nasir Hossain has been included in the squad of Tri-Nation Series while has been excluded from Champions Trophy.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s men will play host England in the opening match of the Champions Trophy at Kennington Oval in London on 1 June.
Wicket‐keeper batsman Nurul Hasan, pace bowler Subashis Roy and all‐rounder Shuvagata Hom, who played for
Bangladesh’s recent ODI series in Sri Lanka, have been excluded from the 15‐man squad for the Champions Trophy. Nurul and Subashis, however, have been included in the 18‐man preliminary squad which will undergo a training camp in
Sussex from April 28 to May 6 and also play in Ireland Tri‐Nation Series.
Bangladesh will face host Ireland in the opening match of the Tri‐Nation Series at Malahide, Dublin on May 12. Shuvagata is the only player excluded from both squads.
Shafiul, the 27‐year old fast bowler, last played an ODI against England in October 2016, after which he suffered an injury during the Bangladesh Premier League. He has taken 63 wickets at 36.41 in his 56 ODIs.
Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin said that Shafiul was always part of the selectors’ plan but was excluded due to the injury.
Nurul and Subashis didn’t play any ODIs in Sri Lanka, with both having played during Bangladesh’s previous series in New Zealand.
Apart from Subashis and Nurul, middle‐order batsman Nasir Hossain has also been included in the squad for the Ireland tri‐series. Nasir last played for Bangladesh against England in October last year, after which he missed out of tours to New Zealand, India and Sri Lanka. He has recently been part of the BCB’s Emerging squad, and made a hundred in the Dhaka Premier League.
Shakib Al Hasan, who is currently playing the IPL in India, will join the squad on May 4. Mustafizur Rahman will return to Bangladesh on April 25 and join his team mates in Sussex thereafter.
