Legends of Rupganj lose fighting

Dhaka: Defending champions Abahani Limited tasted the 8th victory in their 10th match of the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League beating Legends of Rupganj by 49 runs at BKSP ground-4 in Savar on Wednesday.
Abahani Limited batted first after winning the toss and piled up a comfortable 333 for all in 49.5 overs making 207 runs in 28.3 overs in the opening partnership by Lion Das and Shadman Islam.
Opener Liton Das hammered a polished 136 runs off 101 balls featuring 20 fours and three sixes to be adjudged man of the match. Another opener Shadman Islam scored 83-ball 85 runs with the help of seven boundaries and five over boundaries.
Besides, Nazmul Hossain Shanta (35), Shuvagoto Hom (23), Manan Sharma (19), Mohammad Mithun (16) and Saif Hasan (12) were the other scorers for Abahani reaching the double figures.
Mosharraf Hossain and Mohammad Sharif grabbed three wickets each conceding 30 and 61 runs respectively while Mahmudul Hasan took two wickets for 60 runs.
Chasing a target of 334 runs, Legends of Rupganj, riding on Naeem Islam's captain knock of 123 runs, scored 284 runs for the loss of six wickets in quota 50 overs.
Number four batsman Naeem Islam furnished his 119 runs 123 runs innings with eleven fours and three sixes, Mosharraf Hossain contributed 75-ball 67 runs with five boundaries and two over boundaries while lower order Hamidul Islam remained not on 37 runs off 41 balls,with three hits to the fence.
Abu Jayed claimed three wickets for 44 runs.
In the day's another match, Prime Doleshwar SC outplayed Khaleghar SKS by 10 wickets at the Khan Shahed Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Sent in to bat first, Khelaghar SKS were all out for 178 runs in 45.3 overs with two down Amit Majumder making 73, Indian Suraj Randiv 41, captain Nafees Iqbal 17 and opener Rabiul Islam Robi 14 runs.
National coloured all rounder Arafat Sunny and Sri Lanka Chathurange de Silva captured three wickets each conceding 14 and 29 runs respectively. Farhad Reza took two for 37 runs.
In reply, a brilliant century by opener Imtiaz Hossain powered Prime Doleshwar SC to earn convincing victory scoring 181 runs for no loss in just 33.1 overs.
Imtiaz Hossain scored an unconquered 107 runs off 99 balls featuring 10 fours and three sixes while another opener Abdul Mazid remained not out on 64 runs off 101 deliveries with four fours and one six.
In the day's other match at BKSP ground-3, Victoria SC tasted the first victory in their10th match beating Partex SC by two wickets in a high scoring match.
Partex SC batted first after winning the toss and piled up a moderate 298 for 9 in stipulated 50 overs with opener Irfan Sukkur making 95 runs off 92 balls hitting six fours and one six.
Number five Sajjadul Haque contributed another useful 75 runs off 72 deliveries with help of one four and three sixes.
Besides, Rakin Ahmed (31), Sajjad Hossain (25) and Rajibul Islam (21) were the other main scorers for Partex SC.
Mahbubul Alam picked up four wickets for 56 runs while Monir Hiossain took three for 49 runs.
In reply, Victoria SC scored the match-winner 299 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 49.3 overs with one down Indian Arun Karthik hammering 89 runs off 76 balls featuring seven fours and two sixes to be adjudged man of the match.
Opener Rubel Miah made 70 runs before he was retired hurt while Moinul Islam (33), Mehedy Mahmud (27), Monir Hossain (not out 27), Mohammad Arafat (21) and Shariful Hayet (20) were the other major contributors for Victoria SC
Imran Ali grabbed four wickets for 55 runs while Zakaria Masud took two for 58 runs.
