Lankan Laugfs Gas to invest more in BD in next 3 yrs

Dhaka: Laugfs Gas Bangladesh, a part of the diversified multinational Laugfs Holdings of Sri Lanka, has planned to invest significantly in Bangladesh over the next three years.
The energy conglomerate with a strong footprint within the region will make the investment mainly in the areas of capacity enhancement, expanding storage volume, setting up a cylinder manufacturing plant as well as expanding their distribution centre, said the company in a statement.
Visiting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena attended a reception hosted by LAUGFS Gas Bangladesh on Thursday night.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, State Minister for ICT State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Chairman of Laugfs Gas W.K.H. Wegapitiya, also joined the reception-cum dinner.
Senior government officials and business leaders from both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were present.
LAUGFS Gas Bangladesh currently operates a world-class LPG import, bottling and distribution facility at Mongla Port, said the company.
The company imports and distributes over 50,000 MT of LPG every year and operates an expansive and a fast growing distribution network across Bangladesh.
It serves the domestic and industrial segments with its 12kg cylinders for households and 12kg and 45kg cylinders for commercial and industrial customers brand name LAUGFS Gas, which signifies quality, reliability and safety, said the statement.
It is also the pioneer in Autogas in Bangladesh and supplies LPG to automobile service stations across the country.
LAUGFS Gas with its own vessel fleet is able to provide LPG with the highest level of reliability.
