Dhaka: Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Wednesday said the government has decided to keep the Chittagong sea port and Benapole land port open round the clock for seven days a week from August 1 next.

Besides, the authorities concerned will take steps to keep open the customs and banks in the port areas every day for smooth functioning of the port, he said while talking to reporters after a meeting at the Secretariat.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the activities through a videoconference on August 1, said Shajahan.
