Miraz appointed Rajshahi Kings captain
Dhaka: Rajshahi Kings made Mehidy Hasan Miraz their captain for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), despite having no experience of leading a team on the big stage.
Miraz said it was a ‘big opportunity’ for him.
‘I have never led a team on a big stage like BPL, although I have experience of captaining Bangladesh U-19 for a long time. It is a great deal for me,’ he told reporters after he was named the Kings skipper, reports the UNB.
‘It was a great experience to lead the country in the age level cricket. But what I have to do now is different from the previous one. Now, I have to lead many local cricketers as well as some foreign stars. So, it will be a new responsibility for me,’ he said.
Rajshahi finished the last BPL season second from the bottom. But this time around, they are confident to shine in the next edition of BPL, scheduled to begin from January 5.
‘I will try to do something memorable for my team, and I will try to play giving 100 per cent of my ability,’ Miraz added.
