Cultural event arranged at Bangabhaban marking Pahela Baishakh
Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday hosted a cultural event at Bangabhaban on the occasion of Pahela Baisakh, the first day of Bangla New Year.
Some prominent artistes and family members of the President performed at the programme, reports the UNB.
Alongside, a stage show, Laljomin, based on the Liberation War and Bangladesh after the Liberation War was performed as part of the programme with the support of the Cultural Affairs Ministry.
Chief executive of Shunnon Reportoey Theatre Momena Choudhury performed a monodrama.
Sudip Chakrabarty Mannan directed the dram written by Hira.
In his welcome speech, the President hailed the performance and said the drama was a touchy one.
He said he was very much impressed with the performance.
Welcoming everyone to the presidential palace, Abdul Hamid wished a happy, prosperous and peaceful new year.
He also enquired about the wellbeing of the guests during a dinner. Special recipes were served for the invited guests.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM khalid and former Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor were present during the event.
Presidents’ wife Rashida Khanom and other family members also took part in the programme.
Secretaries to the President were also present.
