Dhaka: Bangladesh national women cricket team had a bad tour in Pakistan where they lost all four matches — two Twenty20 internationals and two one-day internationals. Adding to the frustration, cricket team skipper Salma Khatun and other team members were insulted by Pakistan’s leading Television channel Geo TV in the name of fun.

Geo TV telecast a programme at 11:00pm on 7 October where they made fun of the Bangladesh women. First they brought two woman artists, one wearing Bangladeshi jersey and other a Pakistani one. The anchor of the show first called up the women wearing Bangladeshi jersey on the stage. The women came up with teary eyes. It was then revealed that she was playing the role of Bangladesh captain Salma Khatun. The anchor said, ‘There will be win and loss in sports. Why are you crying?’ The woman playing the role of Salma replied, ‘I’m not crying just because you beat us. But you beat us after inviting us all the way.’

Then the anchor said in a sarcastic tone, ‘We provided you with VIP security. But it seems you have no social security!’

Then another woman wearing Bangladeshi jersey was shown. Indicating her sunglasses, the anchor said, ‘It doesn’t look like you have come over through plane. It seems like you come here riding a motor bike!’

After the episode, the anchor again shifted the spotlight on the woman playing Salma’s role. He asked, ‘How do you speak Urdu so well?’

The fake Salma answered, ‘It’s because I have many Pakistani friends on my Facebook.’

Then the other woman wearing Pakistani jersey said, ‘She didn’t upload her real photo on Facebook.’ The one liner means had Salma uploaded her real picture on the social networking site, she wouldn’t have had any Pakistani ‘boyfriend’ on Facebook, given her ‘unattractive’ look.
