Tamim, Shakib hit 50s in their 50th Test

Dhaka: Tigers’ dashing opener Tamim Iqbal and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan hammered fifty each in the 1st innings on day-one of the 1st Test against Australia in their two-match series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.
The Tigers were batting on 179/4 in 51 overs after Tamim’s departure. Shakib was on batting scoring 81 off 125 balls, including 11 boundaries while Mushfiqur Rahim (8 off 21b; 1x4) accompanied him in the 5th stand.
At drinks, Bangladesh collected 156/3 in 44 overs.
Recovering the Tigers early nightmare in the innings, Tamim was caught by David Warner off part-time off-spin bowler Glenn Maxwell’s delivery when the team collection was 165/4 in 45.3 overs.
Tamim scored 71 off 144b alls, including five boundaries and three sixes before his departure. Tamim shaped to cut but this one turned, stopped on him, forcing him to check his shot. He went through with the stroke and ended up lobbing it straight to Warner at backward point.
In their 50th Test, Tamim fired three sixes and two boundaries off 119 balls to complete his 23 fifty while Shakib faced 56 balls and hit seven boundaries for his 22nd fifty.

Steven Smith-led Aussies bowlers demounted the Tigers batting line too early with 3/10 in 4 overs with their pace bowler Pat Cummins who captured all the three wickets for 29 runs.
Winning the toss Bangladesh opted to bat first and suffered early nightmare as opening batsman Soumya Sarkar was out for run-a-ball 8 with two boundaries while Imrul Kayes and Sabbir Rahman were left the ground with ducks.
Soumya was out at 10/1 in 1.5 overs while Imrul and Sabbir were in the 5th and 6th balls respectively in the 4th overs on the same collection of 10 runs.
