Sylhet: Sylhet Sixers maintained their authority at the top of the table of the 5th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 with all-win six points after a 33-run victory in their match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Sixers set the highest target of 206 runs of the meet, till date, and restricted the hapless Kings to 172/8 in 20 overs.

Luke Wright's bright knock of 56 off 39 balls for Kings, including three boundaries and four sixes, faded in comparison against the winning team's top-order flow of runs by Upul Tharanga, Andre Fletcher and man of the match Danushka Gunathilaka.

Tharanga became the highest half-centurion till date in the tournament with three successive half centuries, hitting 50 runs in the day's match, following 51 for a four-wicket win against Comilla Victorians and 69* for a marvelous nine-wicket victory against defending champions Dhaka Dynamites in the tournament opener.

Wright, however, was brilliant in the opening stand of 50 off 5.2 overs with Mominul Haque and in the 5th wicket stand of 54 off 5.1 overs with James Franklin for Rajshahi before he was caught by Liam Plunkett off Kamrul Islam Rabbi on 133/5 in 14.3 overs.

Franklin stayed for 35 off 23 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes, while Mominul Haque (24 off 16b; 1x4; 2x6) and Farhad Reza (15* off 10b; 1x6) and Mushfiqur Rahim (11 off 12b) were the other double digit scorers for the side.

Abul Hasan and Liam Plunkett took three wickets each for 22 and 29 runs while Kamrul Islam Rabbi took one for 54 runs. All bowled four overs apiece.

Sent in to bat first, Sixers scored 205 for 6 in 20 overs with their opening pair contribution of 100 off 10.3 overs between Tharanga and Fletcher.

The Sri Lankan left-hand batsman Tharanga faced 37 balls to fire five boundaries and one six for his 3rd fifty before being caught by skipper Darren Sammy off James Franklin on 105/2 in 11.2 overs.

Fletcher, who starred with 63 runs and shared the opening partnership of 125 with Tharanga on Sixers first match, fell short two runs for his 2nd half century in this edition BPL as he was victim of run out on 101/1 in 10.3 overs.

The West Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Fletcher scored 48 off 30 balls, including five boundaries and three over boundaries.

Sri Lankan left-handed batsman Danushka Gunathilaka, was caught by Farhad Reza, carried out a quick-load of 42 off 22 balls, including two boundaries and three sixes, before Kesrick Williams removed him on 169/4 in 17.4 overs.

Ross Whiteley quick-fired 25 off 12 balls, including one boundary and three sixes, while and Sabbir Rahman (16 off 14b; 1x6) was another double digit scorer for the side.

Kesrick Williams captured two wickets for 39 in four overs while Farhad Reza and James Franklin got one wicket each for 38 and 41 runs.

Kings remained winless, starting the tournament campaign with a 6-wicket defeat against Rangpur Riders in the opening day 2nd match of the tournament on November 4.
