Tamim guides Comilla to crush Khulna

Chittagong: Comilla Victorians crushed the table topper Khulna Titans by nine wickets for their 6th win in the 5th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Comilla comfortably chased down the easy target of 112 for 1 in 13.5 overs spurred with the skipper Tamim Iqbal's unbeaten half century of 64* off 42 balls, including 12 boundaries, which is more than the half-way-done for the victory.
Besides his individual show, Tamim shared an unbeaten innings of 48* off 6.3 overs with and Imrul Kayes in the 2nd stand to shore the vessel to win. Imrul Kayes added 22* off 21 balls, including three boundaries.
Comilla made a smooth start as their opening pair between Tamim and Liton Kumar Das stayed for a figure of 64 off 7.2 overs before Liton (21 off 20b; 4x4) was caught by Ariful Haque off Kyle Abbott.
Kyle Abbott took the only wicket for 27 runs in three overs.
Batting first after winning the toss, Khulna Titans were forced by Shoaib Malik and Al-Amin Hossain's six-wicket sharing equally to bundling out them in 19.2 overs for 111 runs where Nicholas Pooran top-scored run-a-ball 24 with one boundary.
Kyle Abbott and Shafiul Islam scored 16 runs each while skipper Mahmudullah Riyad and Carlos Brathwaite added 14 and 13 runs respectively.
Man of the match Shoaib Malik captured three wickets for 14 runs in three overs while Al-Amin bagged another three-wicket for 20 runs in four overs. Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Hasan Ali and Dwayne Bravo took one wicket apiece to demolish the Khulna's batting line.
Despite the day's loss, Khulna maintained the top slot in the table with their previous collection of 13 points from 10 games while Comilla, with this win, moved one step up from the 3rd slot to take the 2nd spot collecting 12 points from eight outings.
Khulna registered six wins, three losses and one no result while Comilla have six wins and two losses.
