Zimbabwe cricket team in city
A 15-member Zimbabwean cricket team arrived in the capital on Friday to play the tri-nation ODI series also involving Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh beginning on January 15 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
The Zimbabwean team arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 5pm after their schedule collapsed twice. They were originally scheduled to reach in Dhaka on Wednesday, reports the UNB.
Another team of the tri-nation series Sri Lanka will arrive in the capital at 11:00am on Saturday.
Due to their schedule collapse, the practice match between Zimbabwe XI and BCB XI scheduled to be held at the BKSP in Savar on January 13 has been cancelled.
Graeme Cremer-led Zimbabwe team included 20-year-old leg-spinning all-rounder Brandon Mavuta and 19-year-old wicketkeeper batsman Ryan Murray. They will start their campaign in the tri-nation ODI series taking on hosts Bangladesh in the opening match on January 15.
