Cricketers leave for West Indies

Dhaka: Bangladesh national cricket team is leaving Dhaka for West Indies on Saturday (1:00 am) by an Emirates fight to play a two-match test, three-match ODI and three-three-match T201 series against the Caribbean.

World famous all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is leading the 15-man Test squad for a two-match series against West Indies in July.

The first Test of the two-match series will begin on July 4 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound while the 2nd Test on July 12 at Sabina Park, Kingston in Jamaica under newly appointed national team’s head coach Steve Rhodes.

Abu Jayed Rahi, a 24-year medium pacer, got the maiden call for Test squad while Shakib Al Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Nurul Hasan, Abu Jayed, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Shafiul Islam have been recalled, after missing the Test at home against Sri Lanka last February.

Mosaddek Hossain, Nayeem Hasan, Tanbir Hayder, Abdur Razzak and Sabbir Rahman have been dropped from the previous 16-man squad played against Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh squad: Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Litton Kumer Das, Mominul Haque, Mehidy Hassan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Rubel Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Abu Jayed Rahi, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Shafiul Islam.
