Majority of the Team India players are accompanied by their wives and girlfriends during every tour. But keeping the high-pressure England Test series in mind, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently asked the cricketers to stay away from their WAGS until the first three games.

The decision taken by the management was a calculated one given the circumstances in the past, where WAGS of players have come under heavy criticism if the team fails to perform.

During the ongoing UK ongoing tour, Virat Kohli and team were made to part ways with their loved ones before the start of the practice game against Essex. But keeping the future tours in mind, the BCCI has released a new rule which allows players to stay with their WAGS for a period of 14 days; two weeks after the start of a tour, reports deccanchronicle.com.

‘In the event of the 45-day tour, the BCCI did not want a fixed slot for the WAGs. It may or may not suit all of them. So, we’ve decided that the ladies can join their men for any 14 days during the tour after the first two weeks,’ a close BCCI source was quoted as saying by The Mumbai Mirror.

India takes on hosts England in a five-match series, commencing on August 1 in Birmingham with the penultimate Test to be played at the Oval on September 7.
