Bangladesh A take 2-1 lead beating Ireland A by 85 runs in 4th game
Touring Bangladesh A, riding on a captain’s knock of 182 runs by Mominul Haque, took 2-1 lead in the five-match one-day series beating hosts Ireland A by 82 runs in the 4th match in Dublin on Wednesday.
The 2nd-string Bangladesh team opted to bat first after winning the toss and piled up a huge total of 386 runs for 4 in stipulated 50 overs, featuring two good partnerships in the 2nd and 3rd wicket stands, reports the UNB.
After the departure of opening batsman Mizanur Rahman (4) cheaply for six runs, one down Mominul Haque contributed 210 runs with another opener Zakir Hasan in the 2nd wicket stand and shared 118 runs with Mohammad Mithun in the 3rd wicket partnership.
Number three batsman Mominul Haque hammered a polished innings of 182 runs off 133 balls featuring 27 fours and three sixes.
This is highest score by any Bangladeshi batsman in a list A match on foreign soil. Mominul also made record hitting 27 boundaries in an innings in 50 over- a-side match to better previous record of boundaries made by Tamim Iqbal.
Number four Mohammad Mithun scored unbeaten 87 runs off 51 deliveries with the help of 14 fours and two sixes while Zakir Hasan made 93-ball 79 runs hitting seven fours and two sixes.
AR Mcbrine, DC Delany and PKD Chase took one wicket each.
In reply, hosts Ireland A were all out for 301 runs in 46.1 overs with captain A Balbirnie making 106 runs and Simi Singh 53 runs.
Fazle Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed grabbed three Irish wickets each conceding 47 and 73 runs respectively while Mohammad Saifuddin and Shoriful Islam claimed two wickets each giving away 35 and 53 runs respectively.
