Retired South African legend AB de Villiers will play in next year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The announcement was confirmed as the league's Twitter page said "the GOAT from South Africa is now a part of PSL! A warm welcome to AB de Villiers" while the legendary South African himself also confirmed his participation on Twitter.

De Villiers, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, retired from international cricket earlier this year citing burnout, reports the ICC.

Assuming the 34-year-old is the first pick of the draft, he is likely to play for Lahore Qalandars, who will have first choice after finishing bottom of the league last time. Qalandars, who have finished bottom of the league in each of the previous three PSL seasons, are likely to make him their captain.

De Villiers is expected to play for the Titans in South Africa over the winter.

He retired from international cricket holding the record for the fastest ODI fifty, hundred and 150.

The 2019 PSL will take place in February and March next year.
