Bangladesh are on rebuild mode after early stutter against Sri Lanka on Saturday in the opener of Asia Cup 2018 in UAE.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun scored half century each.

Earlier, Tiger skipper Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and Bangladesh opted to bat first in the opener of the Asia Cup on Saturday.

Mashrafe said: ‘good wicket to bat first. We've heard there can be turn later on, so better to bat first and make a good total. Boys are in form after West Indies. Bowlers have done well too.’

Lankan captain Mathews said: ‘I would've wanted to bat first too, but the toss is beyond our control. Good to have Malinga back too. It's a fresh series, fresh opposition so we need to start well. The heat is absolutely terrible but you can't think about it. Bangladesh are also playing with the same heat.’

Bangladesh XI: Tamim, Liton, Shakib, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur, Mithun, Mashrafe, Mosaddek, Mehidy, Rubel, Mustafizur

Sri Lanka XI: Tharanga, Dhananjaya, K Perera, K Mendis, Thisara, Shanaka, Malinga, Lakmal, Aponso, Dilruwan
