BCB to award SA Games gold medallists
Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will award the three Bangladeshi athletes who won gold medals for the country in the South Asian Games.
Swimmer Mahfuza Khatun Shila, weightlifter Mabia Akter Simanta and shooter Shakil Ahmed will receive Tk 5 lakh for each gold medal.
The BCB took the decision at a board meeting held in Mirpur with its president Nazmul Hasan Papon in the chair.
Mahfuza clinched two gold medals for Bangladesh in the Women’s 100-metre breast stroke and 50-metre breast stroke events of the 12th SA Games held in India.
Weightlifter Mabia Akhter Simanta clinched the first gold medal for Bangladesh in the women’s 63-kg weight category.
Shakil bagged the 4th gold for Bangladesh in the men's 50-metre pistol event scoring total 187.6.
