Dhaka: Outstanding performance from Bangladesh bowlers wrapped stuttering West Indies in 111 runs in their first innings of the second Test of the series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.

This was the visiting team’s lowest total against the Tigers where Mehidy Hasan Miraz registered his career-best figures of seven for 58 and Bangladesh’s captain Shakib Al Hasan took the other three for 27.

The hosts secured a potent lead of 397 runs and imposed follow-on for the first in their history.

The Windies started the fight back on the third day losing their overnight unbeaten batsman Shimron Hetmyer to Mehidy Hasan Miraz which his fourth scalp of the match. Hetmyer fell on 39 of 53 balls with three fours and a six to his credit.

The Windies were rudderless while facing the right-arm off-spin of Miraz as the all-rounder took more two wickets to register his career-best bowling figures. His previous best bowling was six for 77 against England back in 2016.

After hunting Shimron Hetmyer, Miraz scalped Shai Hope and Kemar Roach as his fifth and sixth prey respectively while Hetmyer was caught by Miraz himself, Shai Hope caught by Shadman Islam at silly point and Roach trapped at long-on by Liton Das.

The visitors lost their last five wickets just in 36 runs. Earlier, they lost their top five wickets in 29 runs, the lowest by any side down to five against the Tigers in Tests.

Shimron Hetmyer and Shane Dowrich were the lone-duo to fightback while replying Bangladesh’s 508 and Hetmyer scored 39 while Dowrich added 37 on the board.

The Windies lost five wickets at the end of the second day when Miraz scalped three and Shakib bagged two.

In the first innings of the match, Bangladesh posted 508 on the board which is their second-highest total against the Windies. While Mahmudullah hit a ton, Shadman, Shakib and Liton recorded the fifties for the Tigers.
