Bangladesh need 196 to win against West Indies
Dhaka: The visiting West Indies lost nine wickets for 195 in the first of the three-match day-night ODI series now being underway at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.
Masrafe bin-Mortaza took three wickets and the other went to Shakib al-Hasan.
Earler, the West Indies stand-in captain Rovman Powell won the toss and decided to bat first.
Bangladesh have made five changes to their last playing XI that played against Zimbabwe in the previous home series.
While Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain made a comeback, Mohammad Mithun, Ariful Haque, Abu Hider Rony, Saifuddin and Nazmul Islam Apu were overlooked for the first match of the series.
The visitors made two changes to their best XI including Darren Bravo and Roston Chase back in place of Jason Holder and Fabian Allen.
The first One-day International of the series will mark Mashrafe’s 200th appearance in the format. He played 198 of them for Bangladesh, and the other two for Asian XI. The current series could be his last in home as he is supposed to retire from One-day Internationals after the World Cup next year, and Bangladesh have no home series before that.
Before the one-day International series, both teams played a two-match Test series where Bangladesh finished as victorious beating the Caribbeans in both matches.
Bangladesh won the last one-day International series against the Windies in last July in their home in which Tamim Iqbal hit two centuries in three matches and played the pivotal role to help the Tigers win the series.
The second and third one-day International of the series will be held on 11 and 14 December in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and Sylhet International Stadium respectively.
Bangladesh XI: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain.
