Dhaka: Sylhet Sixers beat Chittagong Vikings by five runs in a last over thriller on Wednesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Vikings needed 24 runs in the over bowled by Al Amin Hossain. Robbie Frylinck hit two sixes but that was not enough. The Vikings ended their innings at 163 for seven, reports the UNB.

Robbie remained unbeaten with 44 off 24 balls. Cameron Delport and Sikandar Raza were the other batsmen to offer some good batting show for the Vikings. Delport scored 38 off 25 balls while Raza struck 37 off 28.

For the Sixers, Taskin Ahmed took four wickets and Alok Kapali bagged another two.

David Warner and Nicholas Pooran’s performance with the bat had helped the Sixers post a challenging total in the first innings despite early loss of wickets. Warner added 71 runs with Afif Hossain in the fourth wicket stand.

Afif scored 45 off 28 balls before he was caught by Shehzad off Khaled Ahmed’s delivery. Warner and Pooran added 60 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Warner fell for 59 off 47 balls. Pooran remained unbeaten with 52.

Robbie Frylinck, the South African recruit of the Vikings, took three wickets conceding 26 runs in four overs. Nayeem Hasan took the other wickets.

Sixers will face Dhaka Dynamites on January 12, while Vikings will lock horns with Rangpur Riders on January 11.
