Tigers are on song
Bangladesh comfortably chased down 293 runs against Ireland to win the final game of the Tri-Nation Series by six wickets in Dublin on Wednesday.
However, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan left the field with an injury after hitting a fifty, which took the gloss off the win.
The game might have looked a mere formality as Bangladesh had already qualified for the final while the hosts knocked out, yet for some of the players it was too good an opportunity to miss to prove their worth.
Jayed undoubtedly took his chance, as did Liton Das, who opening the innings hammered 76 off 67 balls in his first start of the tournament.
Liton and Tamim made 117 in the first wicket to set the perfect platform while that was backed by Shakib’s fifty and 35 from Mushfiqur Rahim.
Liton slammed nine fours and a six in his delightful innings while Tamim hit the same number of fours as his opening partner.
Mahmudullah made 35 in the end to wrap up the game.
Choosing to bat first, Ireland posted 292 for 8 thanks to a century from Paul Stirling and 94 by William Porterfield.
The duo made 174 in the third wicket, but Jayed claimed both of their wickets to make sure the hosts do not go past 300.
Bangladesh will play the West Indies in the final on Friday.
