Shakib regains top position
Once again Shakib made Bangladesh proud as he regained the top slot in one-day cricket with left-handed opener has now again on the top of the list in all three formats in the latest ICC ranking release on Monday.
This is indeed going to inject new life for Bangladesh cricket just 12 days ahead of the World Cup.
Bangladesh are placed pool A with Australia, England, Sri Lanka, NewZealand, Afganistan and Scotland. Tigers play their first match on February 18 at Manuka Oval, Canberra, Australia.
Tigers play their second match against co-host Australia on February 21 at Brisbane cricket ground. Their third outing is against Sri Lanka at Melbourne Cricket ground on 26th February. Bangladesh will take on Scotland Saxton Oval Nelson, New Zealand on March 5th.
Bangladesh will play against strong English side on March 9 at Adelaide Oval ground and face the other co-host New Zealand on March 13 at Seddon Park, Hamilton, New Zealand.
Shakib lost the top one-day ranking to Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews only a few days back.
But in the latest ICC rankings, released after the recent Sri Lanka-New Zealand series and the tri-series involving India, Australia and England and Mathews performed below par allowing Shakib once again to regain the top slot.
Shakib, who already holds the top spots in Test and T20, had got the best one-day ranking without playing a single match as Sri Lankan captain failed to perform in the opening match in New Zealand. But soon on the back of two successive good performances in the series both Mathews and Tillakaratne Dilshan had surpassed Shakib.
But as the Lankans could not do well in the remaining matches of the seven-match series, Bangladeshi allrounder has outshone them.
Shakib's rating point is 403, followed by Mathews with 393 points and Pakistan's Mohmmad Hafeez, in the third slot, with 389 points.
Shkaib regained his Test ranking by playing exceptionally well against Zimbabwe.
In the process he also toppled Pakistani's Mohammad Hafeez from the top slot in T20 format.
Shakib Al Hasan, born 24 March 1987, is a Bangladeshi international cricketer and statistically the most successful player in the Cricket World’s history.
