Taskin to be added to Tigers’ ODI side against Afghanistan

Dhaka: Bangladesh’s young speed star Taskin Ahmed will now be added to the Tigers’ ODI side for the first two games against Afghanistan, scheduled to be played on September 25 and 28, as his bowling action was cleared by International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday.
During the announcement Bangladesh’s squad against Afghanistan series at a press conference at Sher-e-Bangla Nationa Ceicket Stadium on Thursday, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief selector Minhajul Abedin told reporters that ‘a spot was open in case Taskin was cleared’.
Including Taskin, now Bangladesh side will become a 14-men squad, reports news agency United News of Bangladesh.
ICC on Friday announced that the bowling actions of Bangladeshi cricketers Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny were found to be legal.
Sunny, however, is not in the current Bangladesh squad, and will focus on the first-class tournament National Cricket League (NCL) which will begin on September 25.
‘I feel at peace now,’ Sunny told ESPN on Friday.
‘I have heard the good news only a few minutes ago. I haven't really shared it with too many people but I will…..I am going to be playing the NCL from September 25, and it is all I am thinking about right now,’ Sunny added.
The re-assessments of the duo’s bowling action, which were carried out at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane on September 8, revealed that the amount of elbow extension in all of Taskin and Sunny’s deliveries were now within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations.
Left-arm spinner Arafat and young pace star Taskin were reported after their side’s opening match in the ICC World Twenty20 in India 2016 against the Netherlands in Dharamsala on March 9.
The independent assessments were performed at the ICC-accredited testing centre in Chennai. Arafat’s bowling action was analysed on 12 March, while Taskin’s test was performed on 15 March.
The Tigers next international assignment is three ODIs at home against Afghanistan beginning on September 25, after which England visit for three ODIs and Two tests.
