Bangladesh make flying start in Roll Ball World Cup
Dhaka: Bangladesh made flying start in the 4th edition of Rollball World Cup crushing Hong Kong by 19-1 goals in their first match at Shaheed capt M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium here on Friday.
Hridoy scored nine goals and Sohag added four for the winners. Arafat and Sagor scored three goals each. Chuk Nun Sun scored the only goal for Hong Kong.
Bangladesh dominated the first half by 7-1 goals.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal inaugurated the event as chief guest at Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex, which is newly built for the world cup event organized by the Bangladesh Roller Skating Federation (BRSF).
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder, Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy, BRSF President Abul Kalam Azad and its Secretary Ahmed Asiful Hasan also present on the occasion.
Bangladesh will play the next match against Bhutan at Mirpur Indoor Stadium at 2:30pm on Saturday.
A total of 27 men's and 39 women's teams from 40 countries will take part in the weeklong world cup event which is hosting by Bangladesh for the first time.
Defending champions India hosted the Rollball World Cup in 2011 and 2015 while Kenya hosted the 2nd edition in 2013.
