Nasir hits ton as Gazi dump Mohammedan

Dhaka: Skipper Nasir Hossain sent an early warning for national selectors as he struck a scintillating 106 not out for Gazi Group Cricketers to dump Mohammedan Sporting Club by seven wickets win in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Thursday at BKSP ground no 3 in Savar.
Chasing a moderate winning target of 221 runs set by Mohammedan, Gazi Group hardly had to sweat as they comfortably reached home making 223 in 37 overs for the loss of three wickets.
Gazi faced early batting jolt losing their two batsmen inside four overs, but a solid stand between Nasir and Parvez guided Gazi towards the facile victory.
The Allrounder Nasir, who scored an impressive run-a-ball 106 runs with six boundaries and five sixes, first shared 54 runs partnership with opener Anamul Haque (54) and again paired an inseparable 144 runs fourth wicket stand with Parveez Rasool (53 n.o) to ensure Gazi's emphatic victory.
Taijul Islam bagged two wickets conceding 61 runs. Nasir Hossain of Gazi group was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance in the match.
Earlier, disciplined bowling display by Gazi Group bowlers restricted Mohammedan at a moderate total of 220 for 8 from their allotted 50 overs, after Gazi Group invited Mohammedan bat first.
Mohammedan faced batting jolt and slipped to 78 for 4 in 21 overs, but Rahmat Shah (78) and Mehedi Hasan Miraz (52) stopped the rot contributing 118 runs for the fifth wicket stand to take past Mohammedan 20 runs landmark.
Mehedi Hasan and Alauddin Babu were the most successful bowler for Gazi as they shared two wickets each conceding 29 and 40 runs respectively.
