Tigers to enjoy higher salary scale

Dhaka: Bangladesh national cricket team players will receive higher amount of monthly salary in 2017 as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) approved a revised salary scale in its 16th executive board meeting on Saturday.
According to the new scale A+ category player will receive Tk four lakh instead of their previous amount of Tk two lakh fifty thousand.
Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim, ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, the newly assigned Twenty20 side captain Shakib Al Hasan and the Tigers dashing opener Tamim Iqbal are the four A+ category players will enjoy the highest salary, effective from January 2017.
Category A players will draw Tk three lakh which was Tk two lakh in the last year.
Category B players will get Tk two lakh while Category C and D players Tk one lakh fifty thousand and one lakh respectively instead of the previous amount for Category B, C and D players were Taka one lakh fifty thousand, one lakh and seventy five thousand respectively.
The board meeting also increased the match fees of the players to Tk three lakh fifty thousand for Test, Tk two lakh for ODI and Tk one lakh twenty five thousand for T20I, instead of Tk two lakh, Tk one lakh and Tk seventy five thousand respectively.
Besides, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been appointed as the Captain of the Bangladesh Twenty20 team to replace Masrafe Bin Mortaza.
Mashrafe, who led Bangladesh last in a two-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Colombo, announced his retirement from this format at toss of the 1st T20I battle of that series on April 4.
BCB Director Sheikh Sohel will act as the interim Chairman of the Umpires Committee as the position became vacant with the death of Nazmul Karim Tinku, the meeting decided.
