Sammy, Simmons lift West Indies to 304
The West Indies recovered from a stuttering start to record 304 for 7 in their first ICC World Cup game against Ireland.
Ireland got off to a dream start after they got rid of the big-hitting trio of Dwayne Smith (18), Chris Gayle (36) and Marlon Samuels (21).
But enter Darren Sammy (89) and Lendl Simmons (102), who rescued the situation from 87 for 5 and took it to 241 for 6 by the time the pair was through.
West Indies' troubles were caused by left-arm orthodox, George Dockrell, who bagged 3 for 50 from his 10 overs, including the important scalps of Gayle and Samuels.
The bowling of Andy McBrine, 10 overs, 1 maiden, none for 26, was also inspired.
Andre Russell enjoyed a little cameo toward the end of the innings striking 27 from 13 balls.
Ireland is now batting to chase the 300+ run.
