Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) suspended fast bowler Shahadat Hossain temporarily as he was sued on charge of assaulting domestic help, confirmed BCB on Sunday.

Shahadat will remain under suspension until a final decision comes regarding the charge brought against him under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

‘Unless the investigation ends or there is a decision over the matter, BCB don’t want to keep any attachment with him’, said BCB president Nazmul Hassan.

‘There is no reason to give Shahadat Hossain any opportunity, it is quite clear. I don’t know whether you know this, he came to meet with me but I didn’t meet him. What would I have told him? I don’t have anything to do. It is totally up to the law of the land,’ Nazmul Hassan clarified BCB’s stance in this regard.

A case was filed against Shahadat and his wife on charge of assaulting their domestic help.
