Anjan’s Jamdani exhibition begins 2 Jan
Dhaka: Fashion house Anjan’s organised a 15-day long exhibition of Jamdani, which has already started on 2 January in its Banani outlet in Dhaka. Painter Hashem Khan, researcher Hamida Hossaim, designer Chandra Shekhar Saha inaugurated the exhibition.
Hashem Khan said: ‘Jamdani is a special asset of Bangali culture. Its traditional exquisiteness still extolled. Not only in the country, people across the globe also fascinated to Jamdani. We have to preserve the tradition of our country.’
Anjan’s chief executive Shahin Ahmmed said: ‘Jamdani has started to lose its originality in some aspects. The fabricators of Jamdani also do not get the honorary they actually worth. We want to endorse the aristocracy of Jamdani and motivate the workers through this exhibition.
The exhibition displays Jamdani sarees in different designs and fabrics, jewelleries in Jamdani motifs, home textiles, panjabis, salwar kamiz, and many more.
The exhibition will continue till 16 January at Anjan’s Banani, Baily Road, Jamuna Future Park, outlets and Chittagong JEC Mor showroom.
Jamdani is a hand loom woven fabric made of cotton, which historically was referred to as muslin.
