Celebrated artist Shahabuddin’s solo art show from March 19
A 13-day solo art exhibition of celebrated artist Shahabuddin will be held in the city from March 19 through 31.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to open the art exhibition titled – Shanti - on March 19 at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Ganges Art Gallery, Kolkata in association with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is arranging the exhibition.

On the occasion, a pre-event media briefing will be held at 4 pm on March 18 at the Seminar Room of the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Artist Shahabuddin, Cultural Affairs Ministry Secretary Md Ibrahim Hossain Khan, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, Ganges Art Gallery Director Smita Bajoria, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Secretary Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury and its Director of Fine Arts Ashraful Alam Poplu will be present at the press briefing.
Artist Shahabuddin is a celebrated international persona and the national pride of Bangladesh. He has been significantly represented in exhibitions all across Europe and Asia. His spectacular creations are in collection of the Museum of Bourg-en-Bressein France, the National Museum of Bulgaria, the Olympic Museum of Lausanne in Switzerland, the Seoul Olympic Museum in Republic of Korea, the National Museum of Taiwan and Bangladesh National Museum other than in several noted private collections.
In 2000, the government of Bangladesh hounoured Shahabuddin with ‘Swadhinata Padak’, while French government conferred upon him the prestigious civilian award ‘Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres’ (Knight in the Order of Arts & Literatures) in 2014 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the nation’s cultural clique.
Earlier, on December 12, 2015, former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated Shahabuddin’s art exhibition – Shanti - in Kolkata.
