Saraswati Puja celebrated
Dhaka: Saraswati Puja, one of the main religious festivals of the Hindu community, was celebrated across Bangladesh on Saturday.
The Puja is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magh, as Goddess Saraswati was born on this day. The day is called 'Vasant Panchami'.
As Saraswati is considered as the Goddess of wisdom and knowledge, Hindu devotees, especially students, celebrate the Puja in different educational institutions and temples.
In the capital, Saraswati puja was arranged at different places, including Jagannath Hall on the Dhaka University campus and Ramkrishna Mission.
Around 67 puja mandaps made by students of various departments of DU were set up at Jagannath Hall to celebrate the day.
Convenor of Jagannath Hall Puja committee Shudhaangshu Shekhor Roy said, ‘This year the arrangements for celebrating the puja were good. The environment was very festive and orderly. We distributed special food and proshad among people. People from all walks of life, including politicians, businessmen, writers and teachers, took part in puja celebration.’
