Art exhibition: Three Shadows of Art
Alliance Française de Dhaka has arranged a solo art exhibition titled Three Shadows of Art by Md. Rashed Alam at its La Galerie.
The inauguration of the exhibition will be held on Friday, 1 April 2016 at 5:30pm. Eminent artist Professor Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, eminent sculptor Ferdousi Priyabhasini, art critic Moinuddin Khaled, and Dhaka Art College principal Gobinda Ray will be present during the inaugural session.
In his first solo exhibition, the artist will present three types of artworks that he experimented on: dualism paintings, sculptures and miniatures.
His dualism paintings will present the viewers with a unique view of the canvas and their relation from different perspectives. These paintings will showcase different chronological aspects if viewed from the left or the right side. Human figures and their inherent shapes have a great influence on his sculptures.
A ‘sinfonia’ of age and different states is sometimes apparent in them. Alam will also exhibit some of his miniatures which came out from carving pencil leads, paintbrushes, or even a hand tool like hammer.
The artist presented portraits in the form of miniature sculpture. He carved the wooden handles of paint-brushes into the miniature portraits of Da Vinci, Matisse, Picasso, Dali and Orwell. These miniature sculptures, having been held atop the upright brushes, remind us of memorial sculptures. This is an aesthetic arrangement of paying tributes to the immortal artists from a young artist.
Alam did his Bachelor of Fine Arts (B F A) from Dhaka Art College, National University.
The exhibition will be open to all till 15 April 2016 from Monday to Thursday (3:00pm to 9:00pm), Friday and Saturday (9:00am to 12:00 noon, and 5:00pm to 8:00pm), except for Sundays.
