‘Choitra Shongkranti’ at Alliance Française
Alliance Française de Dhaka will celebrate the ‘Choitra Shongkranti’ (last day of a Bangla year) at its premises on Wednesday, 13 April 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:30pm.
On ‘Choitra Shongkranti’, Alliance Française De Dhaka will organise a series of cultural programmes such as traditional dance, sitar presentation, classical music etc, says a press release.
Azad Rahman, a former director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, will be present on the occasion as the chief guest while Professor Niranjan Adikhari of Dhaka University and key musician Sheikh Shadi will be present as special guests.
Choitra is the last month of Bengali Calendar. Bengalis traditionally celebrate the day as the last exhibition of the year. ‘The key attraction of the programme at Alliance Française de Dhaka is the elaborate cultural show highlighting some distinct aspects of the Bengali New Year while the day disappears with the sun set ushering a new year on the way.
