Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh to begin Dec 1
Dhaka: The month-long exhibition, ‘17th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh’, will begin on December 1 at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
This was disclosed at a views-exchange meeting with journalists at Dhaka Club on Sunday.
The month-long exhibition will showcase two and three dimensional artworks like paintings, sculptures, prints, print photography, installation and new media art. There will also be art camps.
A two-day seminar will be held on December 2-3 on the topic ‘Art and the City’ at the National Art Gallery auditorium.
Some 100-150 artists from 54 countries, including Bangladesh, will participate in the exhibition.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor who was present at the views-exchange meeting said Bangladesh is for art and culture, not for militancy. “Some of the biggest festivals have been arranged in the country recently which impressed artists of different countries,” he said.
The exhibition will remain open from 11 am to 8 pm every day until December 31.
The exhibition started its journey in 1981 with the participation of 14 countries.
