Wings of Imagination at Alliance Française
Dhaka: A group art exhibition, Wings of Imagination, began at La Galerie in Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD).
The exhibition was inaugurated on 5 June 2015 at 6:30pm.
Artist Mizanur Rahim, journalist Sadya Afreen Mallick, and art critic architect Shamsul Wares, were among the guests present in the opening. AFD director Bruno Plasse welcomed the guests and also presided over the opening ceremony.
An art camp titled ‘Wings of Imagination’ was coordinated by Queenies Art at the Nokkhottrobari resort in Gazipur from 12 to 15 December 2014. It was organised to honour the eminent artist– Samarjit Roy Chowdhury. The serene location was chosen to facilitate the laureate—who promptly responded to the call of the convener artist, Nasima Khanam Queenie to be a part of her camp—to help spread the participants’ wings of imagination.
The participants of the camp included in addition to DU fine arts faculty professors Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, Nasreen Begum, Syed Hassan Mahmud and Atia Islam of Jhapi Art School; Ashok Karmakar, Praddyut Kumar Das of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy; Zahid Mustafa, Bipasha Hayat, Fahmida Enam Kakoli, and Ashraful Hasan along with the organiser Nasima Khanam Queenie and two young artists—Azmeer Hossain and Shahnoor Mamun.
As Queenies Art states in its mission statement, the artworks eloquently reflect the spirit of the artists’ expression of love in their truest forms.
The exhibition will be open to all until 15 June 2015 from Mondays to Thursdays (3:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday and Saturday (9:00am to 12:00noon and 5:00pm to 8:00pm), except for Sunday.
