From the workshop of prints
Dhaka: Bengal Art Lounge organised the opening of Ex Officina Nostra, a group exhibition of prints, in their Gulshan 1 lounge from 14 June.
The term Ex Officina—which translates from Latin as ‘from the workshop of...’—was sometimes added on printed works in previous centuries to certify their provenance, and thus their quality.
Alluding to this ancient practice, Ex Officina Nostra, or ‘from our workshop’, is an exhibition of printed artworks made at the Safiuddin Bengal Printmaking Studio.
The exhibition will display a whole range of recently printed works by artists of established reputation or at the beginning of their creative journey.
The subtle monochromes of Ashit Mitra, the bright colors of Jogen Chowdhury, the variations on religious symbols of Shimul Saha or the mysterious three-eyed face by Sukhamoy Majumder, Ex Officina Nostra proposes to the viewer to chart new territories.
The exhibition will be open from 14 June to Saturday 11 July. Opening hours for the exhibition will be 12:00noon to 8:00pm until 17 June and 12:00noon to 5:00pm from 18 June. The exhibition will be closed on Sundays after 18 June.
